Privacy Policy

Effective October 12, 2026. Replaces the policy dated January 20, 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how The Boss Life Inc. ("The Boss Life," "we," "us" or "our") collects, uses, shares and protects information when you use the Dream Screen mobile app and the dreamscreen.ai website (together, the "App"). We wrote it in plain language. If something is unclear, email us at support@thebosslife.com.

The short version: we collect what we need to run the App, we do not show ads, we do not use tracking SDKs, we do not sell your data, and you can delete your account at any time from inside the App.

1. Information we collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the App and deliver its features.

Information you give us

  • Phone number or email address, used to create your account and sign you in with a one time code. We do not use passwords.
  • Profile information: your name, username, and, if you choose, a profile photo and a short bio.
  • Taste and activity data: your swipes on movies and TV titles, your liked lists, your watched list and the ratings you give.
  • Social data: friends you add by invite code or QR code, recommendations you share with friends, and watch together picks you make with them.
  • AI feature inputs: messages you type into the AI chat, photos you take or choose for title recognition, and voice recordings you make for voice search (see section 4).
  • Contact hashes, only if you turn on contacts matching (see section 3).
  • Safety reports: when you block or report another user, the details of that block or report.
  • Support messages you send us by email or phone.

Information collected automatically

  • Basic technical data sent with every request to our servers, such as IP address, device type, operating system and App version, request time and error information. We use it to keep the service secure and working.
  • Feature usage inside the App, such as which titles you have already seen, so we do not show them again.

What we do not collect

We do not collect precise location, payment or financial information, or health data. We do not use advertising identifiers and we do not include third party advertising or analytics SDKs in the App.

2. How we use information

  • Create and manage your account and sign you in securely.
  • Generate personal movie and TV recommendations and build your Taste DNA.
  • Run social features: friends, shared recommendations and watch together picks.
  • Run AI features: chat recommendations, title recognition from photos and voice search.
  • Keep the community safe, including reviewing reports and enforcing our Terms of Service.
  • Fix bugs, protect against abuse and improve the App.
  • Send essential service messages, such as sign in codes and replies to your support requests.

We do not use your data for third party advertising, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.

3. Contacts matching and invitations

Contacts matching is optional and only runs if you allow the App to access your contacts. When you turn it on:

  • The App converts each phone number in your contacts into a one way SHA-256 hash on your device, before anything is sent.
  • Only those hashes are uploaded. We never receive your contacts' names, phone numbers in readable form, emails or any other contact details.
  • We compare the hashes with the hashed phone numbers of existing Dream Screen users so we can show you which of your contacts are already on the App.

You can switch contacts access off at any time in your iPhone Settings. We never message your contacts. If you invite someone, you choose how to share your invite code or link, for example through your own messaging app, and you are responsible for having permission to contact the people you invite.

4. Camera, microphone and AI features

The App asks for camera and microphone permission only when you use a feature that needs it. You can say no, or change your mind later in your iPhone Settings, and keep using the rest of the App.

  • Camera and photos. When you point your camera at a poster or a screen, or choose a photo, the image is sent to our servers and processed by Anthropic to identify the title.
  • Microphone. When you use voice search, your recording is sent to our servers and converted to text by ElevenLabs. The text is then used to search for titles.
  • AI chat. When you ask for recommendations in the chat, your messages, along with relevant taste data such as titles you liked, are processed by Anthropic to generate an answer.

The App only uses the camera and microphone while you are actively using these features. We send these providers only what each request needs. They process it to return a result to us under their agreements with us, and we do not permit them to use it to train their models. AI results can be wrong; see our Terms of Service.

5. Service providers we use

We rely on a small number of companies to run the App. Each one receives only the information it needs for its task:

  • DigitalOcean: hosts our servers and database in Toronto, Canada.
  • Twilio: sends sign in codes by SMS. Receives your phone number and the code.
  • Resend: sends sign in codes by email. Receives your email address and the code.
  • Anthropic: processes AI chat messages and photos for title recognition.
  • ElevenLabs: converts voice search recordings to text.
  • TMDB (The Movie Database): provides movie and TV information and posters. The App requests title data from TMDB; we do not send TMDB your name, phone number or email. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
  • Apple: distributes the App through the App Store.

6. When we share information

Besides the service providers above, we share information only:

  • With other users, as the App is designed. Your name, username, photo and bio are visible to people who can find or add you. Friends can see the recommendations you share with them and your watch together picks.
  • When the law requires it, such as a valid court order, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users, the public or The Boss Life.
  • In a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

7. Where your data is stored

Our servers and database are located in Toronto, Canada. Some service providers listed in section 5 process data in other countries, including the United States. When data leaves your country, we rely on contractual and legal safeguards appropriate to the transfer, such as standard contractual clauses for data from the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom.

8. How long we keep data

  • Account and App data is kept while your account is active and deleted when you delete your account.
  • Photos and voice recordings for AI features are processed to return a result and are not kept as part of your account.
  • Sign in codes expire within minutes.
  • Server and security logs are kept for a limited time, no longer than 90 days, unless needed to investigate abuse or meet a legal obligation.
  • Support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your request and any follow up.

9. Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time in the App: Profile > Settings & Account > Delete Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes your profile, photo, swipes, lists, ratings, friends, shared recommendations, watch together picks and contact hashes from our database. Deleted data cannot be recovered.

If you cannot access the App, email support@thebosslife.com from the email address on your account, or tell us the phone number on your account. We will verify that the account is yours and delete it within 30 days, usually much sooner. Full steps are on our Delete account page.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the App and our servers, access controls on our systems and one time sign in codes instead of passwords. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the authorities of a breach when the law requires it.

11. Children

The App is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Users between 13 and the age of majority where they live need a parent or guardian's permission to use the App. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

12. Your rights and choices

Wherever you live, you can see and change most of your information in the App, switch off contacts, camera and microphone access in your iPhone Settings, and delete your account. You can also email us to ask for a copy of your data or for help with any request. We respond within 30 days and will not treat you differently for using your rights. We may need to verify your identity first.

Canada

Under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and provincial laws, you can ask to access and correct your personal information and withdraw consent to optional processing. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

United States

Residents of states with privacy laws, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others, can ask to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, get a copy, correct it and delete it. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross context behavioral advertising, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. If we deny a request, you can appeal by replying to our answer.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal data, to receive it in a portable format and to withdraw consent at any time. We process your data to provide the App you asked for (performance of a contract), with your consent for optional features such as contacts matching, camera and microphone, for our legitimate interests in keeping the App safe and working, and to meet legal obligations. You can complain to your local data protection authority.

13. Cookies and tracking

The App does not use advertising identifiers or tracking SDKs, and it does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The dreamscreen.ai website does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising scripts. Our web server keeps standard access logs, as described in section 8.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will tell you in the App or by other reasonable means before they take effect, and update the effective date above.

15. Apple App Store disclosure

The App is distributed through the Apple App Store. Apple is not responsible for the App or for how we handle your data. Privacy questions or claims about the App should be directed to The Boss Life Inc., not Apple.
